At 3,707 m, the Teide is the highest mountain in Spain. You can get almost to the top of the crater quite comfortably by cable car. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view or hike further to the summit, although you need a special permit for this.
The temperatures were quite frosty, I wish I had brought my gloves.
A cable car ticket is not exactly cheap at €20 per person. The small print states that the maximum stay is 1 hour. They check before the descent, so you should make sure to be back at the cable car station on time.
